Fall Meeting
Sunday, September 21
Our Fall Meeting will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2008, at the St. Christopher Parish hall, in the school building, behind the church at 1420 Grandview Ave., Columbus.  The meeting will begin at 1 p.m., rather than our usual hour, because of other meetings scheduled in the building.
Society Vice Chairman Don Schlegel will present “Travails of Bishop Rosecrans,” describing some of the issues and problems faced by our first bishop, based on his work calendaring the bishop’s correspondence in the Diocesan Archives.
The main item of business to be transacted is the appointment of a committee to nominate officers for the new, two-year term beginning in February.
We also will hold our silent auction of duplicate items from our collection.

First Mass in the State of Ohio Memorial
A Mass, memorial dedication, and reception are scheduled for Sunday, September 28, at 2:00 p.m. to celebrate the meeting of Father Fenwick and the Dittoe family in 1808 and the offering of the Mass that led to the establishment of the Church in Ohio.  Bishop Campbell will preside.  The event will be held at 5000 Stagecoach Road NW, Somerset, on part of the Dittoe homestead.
To get there, go west from Somerset on Route 22 to Toll Gate Road.  Left on Toll Gate a short way and then bear right onto Stage Coach Road.
So that the organizers will have some idea of the number to be expected, if you intend to attend, please leave a message on the Society’s recorder at 614-241-2571 or e-mail first mass@aol.com.

Society Bus Trip to the First Mass Event - Canceled
The previously announced Society bus to the First Mass Event has been canceled.

Membership
We are very sorry to report that our devoted member Sister Quentin Fox, O.P.,  died at Mohun Health Care Center on June 6, at the age of 85 years.  We will have a Mass offered for her (though we doubt she needs one very much).  May she rest in peace!
New member:
            Timothy Coughlin, Cleveland
